Great miracles happen when people believe in God. The only thing between you and your dream is your unbelief.
Within you dwells the most powerful being on earth, God, and there is nothing in heaven and on earth that He cannot do to help you.
Luke 1: 37 “For with God nothing will be impossible”.
These words in Luke were spoken to Mary when the angel of the Lord visited her proclaiming that she was going to conceive and give birth to a son who will be called Jesus, the savior of the world. ‘What an elaborate story’, Mary must have thought this message was preposterous, “Me, Mary, give birth to a Son? A son of God, surely, how will this be, I am a virgin?” We can only imagine Mary’s reaction, we should appreciate that the Bible is less dramatic. But let us consider the following events: nine months down the line, was Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God born? Yes He was (Luke 2; Matthew 2.) Did Jesus die on the cross for our sins? Yes He did (Matthew 27& 28; Mark 15&16; Luke 23&24.) What does this tell us about believing in God? That great and mighty things happen when we Believe in God. All this happened because Mary believed in the word of God, she believed in the impossible. Luke 1: 35…38 “The angel answered Mary, for no word from God will ever fail,’ and Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant, ‘May your word to me be fulfilled.’
Luke 1: 45 “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
Mary is not the only one who believed in God, countless others are mentioned in the Bible (Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and many others, refer to Hebrew 11.) Even in the world today, many continue to believe in God and God will not fail them.
Many people ask themselves: “Will I really make it? The answer is, ‘Yes you can!’ So, what should I do to make it in life? The answer is simple:
Start by Believing in God
Here is how it works, once you believe in God, God helps you believe in yourself, and once you believe in yourself, you believe in your power to make a positive change around you. There is nothing you cannot do. It’s is as simple as that. You have to believe that God exists and lives within you.
The only way to succeed is by believing in your self. It is fundamental that you know who you are. You can only know who you are if you know who God is, you can only know who God is if you ask Him to reveal himself to you, and this should not be hard, for God lives in you.
That God lives in you is a fact recorded in the Bible:
- 1 Corinthians 3:19 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?”
- Romans 8: 11 “And if the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies because of the Spirit who lives in you.”
- Ezekiel 36:27 “I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”
- John 15: 7 “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
If God asked you today, ‘What do you want? What will your answer be?
Matthew 7: 7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Why you do not have an answer yet…
In accordance to James 4: 3, “When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.”
You may not get what you want because it is not good for you. Most importantly, you may not get it because you do not know what it is that you really want. You have to keep in mind that when you go before God, you cannot belittle Him by asking for little, perishable things like money, car(s), land(s), house(s), job(s) etc…, he knows quite well that you need these, you have to look at the big picture. Ask God for something that is greater and bigger than yourself (‘Dream Big’). ‘Big’ in this context means ‘God’. To dream big means to, ‘Ask for God’, to come into your life. When it is written, “Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened to you…(Matthew 7:7)”, God is not telling you to ask for little insignificant things, he is reminding you to ask for Him! Everything you do should be driven by love (remember ‘God is Love’), your request should be driven by the need to Serve and Love God. Your request to the Lord should be about helping and serving others and not just yourself, that is how to touch the heart of God, that is how you get your prayers answered.
Know who you are … in God
It is fundamental that you know who you are and what you want, it is important that you know God. God is the one who created you, and he is the one who knows exactly who you are and what He made you to be. God knows you in unimaginable ways. Psalms 139: 2 “You have searched me Lord and you know me, you know when I sit and when I rise, you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue, you Lord, know it completely. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” How amazing it is that God knows you this much!
This brings us back to Matthew 7: 7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”. In light of this, what should you be asking God? (Refer to the story of King Solomon in 1 Kings 3 for a clue of what you should ask God). Matthew 6: 33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.“
If you want to ‘Know God’ and need help going about that, all you have to do is start studying the Bible, His message to you. To know anyone you have to spend time with them, reading the Bible is one way that you can spend time with God. It is going to be a long process, it will not happen overnight, but finding God is the only way that you can truly make a lasting change in your life. In the end, you will become who God made you to be. You will find your inner peace, you will find ‘you’.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I want to know you more, help me know you. May your will in my life be done in Jesus name. Amen.
